*********AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER 31ST MARCH *********
***** INSTORES RECORD STORE DAY - 19TH APRIL *****

Cobra Snake Necktie Records and Love & Theft Recordings proudly present the deluxe double vinyl issue of the award winning and much loved debut self-titled album by Adalita for release on Record Store Day 2014 - Saturday April 19th.

Originally released in March of 2011, Adalita was initially conceived as a humble solo project, laboured over in isolation. The resulting album not only thrilled fans of the artist’s former band Magic Dirt, but also introduced her to a younger audience who weren’t necessarily aware of the enormous body of work she had accumulated since the early 1990s. The intense mood of Adalita gained extra poignancy with the untimely death of Magic Dirt bassist Dean Turner, who greatly inspired and supported Adalita in stepping out on her own.

The public and critics were blown away by the raw and vital vision presented on Adalita, which dealt with weighty themes such as friendship, desire and mortality with an unflinching candor and humanity. The album entered the ARIA Album chart at #23 and went on to win the AIR award for Best Independent Album and was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize as well as a nomination in the Best Female artist category at the 2011 ARIA Awards.

The first ever vinyl pressing of Adalita will be presented as a double LP on Gold & Blood coloured 180gm virgin vinyl with exclusive new photographs by Adalita, with a new insert and digital download. Limited to 500 hand numbered copies and available instore and online on Record Store Day 2014.

***** TESTIMONIALS *****
“Uncompromising but vitally accessible… This music obliterates its contemporaries. A landmark Australian release.” - Craig Mathieson, The Age

“a surprisingly varied, but entirely self-consistent solo album, beholden to no one and nothing other than one woman’s passion and imagination.” - René Schaefer, Mess + Noise

“a work of raw beauty, captivating in its vulnerability and upfront with its emotion … this is a powerful, haunting and direct record, and Srsen lets us into her world without reservation. For that we should feel privileged.” - Tim Klingbiel, Faster Louder

Track Name: Hot Air
I’m up hot air ballooning
I’m one decided honey
I guess this sound is soothing
Oh boy I need your body

From sadness to erotic
I guess it’s my ultimate plan
To see if it’s inside you
Yes, boy I need your man

I turn from side to side
And I wonder when I’ll get to sleep
I start to feel uncomfortable
You’re a gift with no release

The floor is making patterns
Of where our bodies lay
Tomorrow’s just an outline
Of how we spent today
Track Name: Perfection
Oh how you stop me
With your mad dark eyes
Something has caught me
Between here and the outside

Oh a fantasy
Makes its own light
I sink into it
Night after night after night

Oh you’re closed for the season
All snowed in
But I need power and reason
Some recognition for keeping my feet on the ground

Raise your hopes, up high
High horses
I’m made of birds
So you don’t have no choices

Ah you’re heaven sent, (oh you’re heavy)
I know not how
Ah you’re heaven sent (oh you’re heavy)
It’s too heavy for me now

Oh how you got me
With your harshest test
I can’t deal, I can’t deal
Oh with your perfection
Track Name: The Repairer
This is the hand with no doubts
This is the diamond action
I am the grim repairer
You are forward action

I put my finger to the end of the cable
And I pull it out of its dark little stable
Once it’s free from it’s still little home
It ends it’s connection and is out on its own

I am the grim repairer
I come to your door
I’ve arranged to pull out your pins
I’m your man to end all things

It’s not a testament
I’m just pulling the plug
Releasing the lifelines
I’ve come to collect
To pull out your pins
To end all things
Track Name: Jewel Thief
It’s high time that I met you, it’s the right time to do so
Yes it’s high time that I met you cos you’re so good for my soul

Oh babe you’re so hard to control

Nestled in your heart babe is the perfect little jewel
A precious little twinkle, too good to be true
It don’t matter what you do it doesn’t matter what you say
Just tell me what you want for it and how much will I pay

When I introduced myself you know that it was war
I coveted your special things and took them from your drawer
When I get that feeling of deep down lust
I gotta take everything before I lose the thrust

Soaking in my wedding, gloating in my heart
I’m a jewel thief on the run

I look upon your arm and see fine hairs up to your wrist
Laced upon my finger is this rare green amethyst
Confronted with your beauty and your slender footed fall
I stop to pick the pieces up, a jewel thief on the floor
Track Name: Invite Me
This is the dream I had of you last night
I saw your father, I couldn't tell whether he was laughing or crying
He followed us dancin' around, we're all walking happy
You made a joke and you and I laughed uncontrollably
I saw the sea, the big moon it cleaned itself out
And we sat on the dusty hillside and you spoke about my rooms
It's the little things yeah it's the little things
I tried to show ya and then you lifted up and you walked around

You stood behind me and placed your hands upon my head
And smoothed down my hair and lovingly cradled my neck
And I could be there by now if you'd invite me darlin'
Invite me darlin'

I've just woken up to a cold day
And I can smell every single thing and I feel shaken
Too many dreams of ya, I'm insane, say it again, I'm insane
When I come into the house all my worries come back
Gotta melt it in the sun, melt it again, bullshit stories, all my own
I'm insane, I can't look after myself
I'm gone nearly every single day you walk around

She's the most captivating woman of today
You'd better run and ring her bell, you'd better run and sell it well boy
It's all there, it's all proof, my silence is my speech to you
You you you always come back to feature in my sleep
Wake me up and walk around
Track Name: Good Girl
I know just when to wait
Yeah I know just when to walk away
My aim is as far as a southbound iceberg
So you should believe everything that you heard

No I'm not the one making trouble
No I'm not the one you should blame
No I'm not the one making trouble
Cos I am the good girl again

Oh I've been sitting for days
Yeah a friend she told me no no girl you can't wait
I'm a sterile nobody with nowhere to go
But at least I can say that I left you alone

Oh look at my halo
It sits at my feet like a beautiful dog
So now I'm a fucking painter with shit on my walls
Well it's a good price to pay to stay safe and warm

Oh I am the good girl again
Track Name: Fool Around
Your face it doesn’t match mine
And your bright bright snake raised eyes
You give yourself away, little by little
Oh, let me hear you say yes

I’m here to take you to dance
I’m here to take you to dance
I’m here to take you away

Oh, I just wanna fool around with you

We’re so quiet together, no words ever
The stakes are high, a dying match
You’re the best and that’ll never change
Never thought I had a say

Your checkered wrapped back
Fights the wind she brings with her
If I only had one beast
I’d bring you to it

Because mine is your reason
It’s a job I have to do
Track Name: Goin Down
Twisted freak on my knees
Feel the squeeze
Freeze off every single bone in my body
A tequila rage, a killer range is limited
Cos the bow and arrow is a white sparrow
Is a killer is a human face

On a stage I place you
crazy horseshoe
Willing to live under a circular sieve
Beginning to swerve
Lessons to learn, money to burn

Cos there’s fear in the power
Power in the fear
Fear in the power
There’s a power in the fear

Cos I’m goin’ down

Bring the love sprinter into the room
Over the hurdle yeah, hurry Joe clean up your mess
Remarkable press on your breast
Remarkable skies on your fugue filled drive

There’s a girl and another girl
What a bitch, what a witch
You got a jealous itch that you can’t shift
Who’s gonna pay, it goes way way way back

It goes back to the black

I’m going down to Chinatown, I’m going down
I’m going down to Chinatown, to my town

I build a nest of sticks, I build my house on bricks, I build a lake of fire
I build a nest of sticks, I build my ass on bricks, I build a lake of fire
Track Name: Fur Seal (bonus track)
I can’t believe that
Forty of my friends were shot dead cold
Just sitting on a rock
Big eyes, docile, just looking out to sea

You’re more than evil
You’re rotten inside
The love you never felt
Is calcified

You’re ugly and scornful
Lazy and stupid
Shallow and harmful
And you make no room for us

I can’t believe that
Forty of my friends were shot dead cold
Just sitting on a rock
Big eyes, docile, just looking out to sea

The rock that you stand on
is your old, old enemy
Your house will catch fire
And your body will see
The trap on your doorstep
The noose in your car
No one gives a fuck how fucked up you are

I can’t believe that
Forty of my friends were shot dead cold
Just sitting on a rock
Big eyes, docile, just looking out to sea
Track Name: Taxi Club (bonus track)
I found another side
To myself last night
Don’t worry now
I won’t paint you
In a bad light, last night

Cos i’m really understanding
I’m totally like a dead queen
Smelling hair spray down the hallway
And we all catch a taxi

So we can go out
And we can drink and shout
And you can shake it out
And i can lick it out
And we can sit and talk
And we can sit in the dark
And we can catch it

Cos i’m really understanding
I’m a flashback on your landing
And i’m really understanding
I’m totally like a dead queen

So we can go out
And we can drink and shout
And you can shake it out
And i can lick it out

Try me
